Antes de este capítulo, Lucas mencionó signos como; falso Mesías que dirá “soy yo” el tiempo está cerca, guerras, nación se levantará contra nación, terremotos, hambre y pestilencia por todas partes, persecuciones de los que proclaman la Palabra de Dios, y destrucción de Jerusalén. Signos no de hace siglos, pero evidentes también en nuestro tiempo presente. Eso puede provocarnos ansiedad y miedo. Pero el Evangelio nos invita a no temer y a mantener la fe. Escucharlo diciéndonos “vienen días … en que cumpliré la promesa que hice a la casa de Israel y Judá … en aquellos días Judá estará a salvo y Jerusalén habitará segura” (Jer. 33, 14).
Al mismo tiempo, el renacimiento de la esperanza en nuestros corazones; las mismas Palabras de Jesús que nos aseguran y consuelan “cuando estas señales comiencen a suceder, estad erguidos y levantad la cabeza, porque vuestra redención está cerca” (Lc. 21,35). Una declaración para no asustarnos más bien para levantar nuestra esperanza, para recordarnos que no perecerá especialmente para los que creyeron. Además, la lectura del Evangelio nos desafía a ser hombres y mujeres lee de los signos de los tiempos. Un creyente fiel que puede reconocer la presencia de Dios y puede identificar el movimiento del Espíritu Santo en su vida y en el aquí y ahora. Asimismo, puede ser interpelado por ella para escuchar y responder al clamor y necesidades de la Iglesia. Además, nos pidió que estuviéramos constantemente vigilantes, conscientes y despiertos esperando la venida de Dios.
Al comenzar este tiempo de Adviento, roguemos a nuestro Padre amoroso que encienda nuestra fe, fortalezca nuestra esperanza, nos inspire y guíe a leer las señales del tiempo y atenta a nuestra espera por Su venida.

Today’s Gospel reading on this first Sunday of Advent reminds us to strengthen our FAITH and fear not, be HOPEFUL, READ the SIGNS of TIME and constantly WATCHFUL.
Prior to this chapter Luke mentioned signs like; false Messiah who will say “it is I” the time is at hand, wars, nation will rise against nation, earthquakes, hunger and pestilence everywhere, persecutions of those who proclaim the Word of God, and destruction of Jerusalem. Signs not of centuries ago, but evident as well in our present time. That can provoke anxiety and fear in us. But the Gospel invited us to fear not and to hold on our faith. To listen Him telling us “the days are coming…when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah…in those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure” (Jer. 33, 14).
At the same time the rebirth of hope in our hearts; the very Words of Jesus assuring and consoling us “when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand” (Lk. 21,35). A declaration not to frighten us instead to raise our hope, to remind us that will not perish especially for those who believed. Moreover, the Gospel reading challenges us to be men and women who reads the signs of time. A faithful, believer who can recognized the presence of God and can identify the movement of the Holy Spirit in his or her life and in the here and now. Likewise, can be interpellated by it to listen and response to the clamor and needs of the Church. Furthermore, it asked us to be constantly watchful, aware and awake waiting for God’s coming.
As we begin this season of Advent let us beg our loving Father to kindle our faith, strengthen our hope, to inspire and guide us read the signs of time and vigilant on our waiting for His coming.
