Evangelio de Lucas 9, 51-62
13º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
«Sin vuelta atrás, sin vuelta atrás» un clamor de una madre a su hija entrando en la vida religiosa. En otro caso, un padre le dice a su hija «ten coraje, sé fuerte». Y el consejo de una abuela a su nieto diciéndole: «no te preocupes por nosotros, concéntrate en el Señor». Algunos escenarios los presencié en la familia, en el acompañamiento de chicas que deseaban seguir al Señor. Cortar los lazos, las ataduras de nuestras raíces, aprender a separarnos de las personas queridas por nosotros y separarnos de ellas son cruciales, especialmente al principio. Necesita mucha disciplina, elección consciente, determinación y confianza al Dios que nos llamó.
Muchas veces, colocamos varios obstáculos para seguir genuinamente al Señor. Muchas coartadas, excusas y razones para retrasar nuestra respuesta a Él y, a veces, el rechazo al llamado divino de Dios.
El pasado 31 de mayo, en la fiesta de la visitación de la Santísima Virgen María a su prima Isabel. Muchas hermanas cumplen ese día años en la vida religiosa. Reflexionando sobre estos últimos años de Dios dado vida, amor y el misterio de su llamada, me da estas afirmaciones: desde el principio Dios tiene sus ojos puestos en nosotros. Somos queridos por Él. Él nunca cambia y no dejará de amarnos. Y esta verdad nunca cambiará. En nuestras rupturas, fragilidades y pecaminosidad, Dios nos acaricia, abraza y sana desde su misericordia, compasión y perdón.
Y Él nos dice repetidamente: eres amado, eres elegido y eres llamado.
Que esta realidad haga desvanecer nuestros temores y nos lleve a confiar plenamente en Él. Y pueda llevarnos a una entrega desinteresada y total de uno mismo, para la mayor gloria de Dios: amándolo y sirviéndole en los miembros más vulnerables, heridos y quebrantados de Su Cuerpo, la Iglesia.

Gospel of Luke 9:51-62 / 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“No turning back, no turning back” a clamor of a mother to her daughter entering to Religious life. At other instance, a father telling her daughter “have courage, be strong.” And a grand mother’s pieces of advice to her grandchild saying “do not worry about us, focus on the Lord.” Some scenarios I witnessed in the family, in the accompaniment of young ladies who wished to follow the Lord. Cuttings cords from our roots, learning to detach from the people dear to us and separation from them are crucial especially in the beginning. It needs a lot of discipline, conscious choosing, determination and trust to the God who called us. Often times, we place various stumbling blocks to genuinely follow the Lord. Lots of alibis, excuses and reasons to delay our response to Him and at times, refusal to God’s divine call.
Last 31st of May, on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth; many sisters marks years in Religious life. And reflecting on these past years of God given life, love and the mystery of His call, it gives me these affirmations: since the beginning God has his eyes on us, we are dear to Him. He never changes and will not stop loving us. And this truth will never change. In our brokenness, frailties and sinfulness; God’s caresses, embrace and heals us of his mercy, compassion and forgiveness. And He tells us repeatedly, you are loved, you are chosen and you are called. May this reality vanish our fears and lead us to trust Him fully. And it may lead us to a selfless and total giving of oneself, for God’s greater glory, loving and serving Him to the most vulnerable, wounded and broken members of His Body, the Church.
