La reflexión del Evangelio de hoy muestra la necesidad de Dios en los discípulos. Expresa su más profundo anhelo y deseos de una relación más estrecha con Dios en la oración, como lo que nos enseña Santa Teresa de que la oración es ejercicio de amor (cf. Vida 7,12). Es un anhelo interior que clama por ver a Jesús en la oración; por hacer lo mismo, por experimentarlo por sí mismos y crecer con él. Al mismo tiempo, Lucas 11, 1-13 me ha recordado la actitud perseverante de Santa Teresa de Jesús, su decidida determinación.
Como Jesús menciona en el Evangelio de hoy, la historia de un amigo que le pide a otro que le preste unos panes; que si no se lo daban por su amistad, tendría lo que necesitara por su perseverancia. Como decía Santa Teresa: »Si uno persevera, Dios no se niega a nadie». Con ella, que nos dé a todos el valor y el espíritu inquebrantable para confiar en el amor y la providencia de Dios Padre, para creer en la misma Palabra de Jesús que nos dice: «Pedid y recibiréis; buscad y encontraréis; llamad y se os abrirá la puerta. Porque todo lo que pidáis, lo recibiréis; y el que busca, encuentra; y al que llama, se le abrirá la puerta…» (cf. Lucas 11,9-10). Y el Espíritu Santo inspirador que nos lleva a anhelar, desear e invocar al Señor.

Reflecting on the Gospel today depicts the disciples’ need for God. It expresses their deepest longing and desires to a closer relationship with God in prayer as what Santa Teresa teaches us that “prayer is an activity of love.” (Life 7:12) It is an inner craving that clamors seeing Jesus in prayer; to do the same, to experience it by themselves and grow with it. At the same time, Luke 11, 1-13 reminded me of the persevering attitude of Santa Teresa de Jesus, her determined determination. As Jesus mentioned in today’s Gospel, the story of a friend who asked another friend to lend her 3 loaves of bread; that if it will not be given because of their friendship, he will have whatever he needs because of his persistence. As Santa Teresa said: “God withholds Himself from no one who perseveres.” With it, may it give us all the courage and unwavering spirit to trust the love and providence of God the Father, to believe the very Word of Jesus telling us: “ask and you will receive; seek and you find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For whatever you ask, receive; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened…” (cf Luke 11:9-10). And the inspiring Holy Spirit that leads us to longed, desire and call upon the Lord.
