Amar a Jesús significa caminar sobre sus palabras; «Quien me ama cumplirá mi palabra…» (Jn 14,23). La palabra de la persona que amamos se convierte no sólo en valiosa y significativa, sino en un punto de referencia, de seguimiento y obediencia. Como expresión de amor, de confianza y confianza a la palabra de la persona que amamos. El que ama, escucha y sigue al que ama. «Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, yo las conozco, y me siguen» (Juan 10,27). Y acatar sus palabras es estar en comunión con él y con el Padre como consecuencia. «Si me amáis, guardad mis mandamientos» (Juan 14,15). Amar es tender la mano, actuar de acuerdo con el mandamiento. El amor se complementa con la acción. El amor no es teórico, sino acción.
Que nunca estoy solo; «el abogado, el Espíritu Santo a quien el Padre enviará en mi nombre, os enseñará todo y os recordará todo lo que os dije» (Juan 14,26). El Espíritu Santo es la presencia perdurable de Dios en nosotros, para enseñarnos, para defendernos, para darnos paz, para consolarnos y aconsejarnos especialmente cuando más lo necesitábamos. Una verdad consoladora de que no somos huérfanos, sino siempre guiados, protegidos y amados.
Por último, no tengo nada que temer; «La paz te dejo, mi paz te doy… No dejéis que vuestros corazones se turben ni se asusten» (Juan 14,27). Un corazón que confía, se entrega y se desprende de su propia voluntad, es un corazón en paz y unido a uno mismo, a los demás y a Dios que nos ama siempre.

Reflecting on the Gospel today reminds me of the following reality:
To love Jesus means to walk on his words; “Whoever loves me will keep my word…” (Jn 14,23). The word of the one we love becomes not only valuable and significant, but a point of reference, of following and obedience. As an expression of love, of trust and confidence in the word of the one we love. The one who loves, listens and follows the one he loves. “My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me” (John 10,27). And to abide his words is to be in communion with him and with the Father as a consequence. “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14,15). To love is to reach out, to act according to the commandment. Love complements with action. Love is not theoretical, but action.
That I am never alone; “the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you” (John 14,26). The Holy Spirit is God’s enduring presence in us, to teach us, to defend us, to give us peace, to comfort and counsel us especially when we needed it most. A consoling truth that we are not orphan, but always guided, protected and loved.
That I have nothing to fear; “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you… Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid” (John 14,27). A heart who trust, surrender and detach on his own will, is a heart at peace and united with oneself, with others and with God who loves us always.
